Call and Response: Experiments in Storytelling

Deanne Fernandes is a multidisciplinary Visual Storyteller. As a sociologist and illustrator, she has developed unique arts-based research methods during her time at RISD, which she is compiling into a visual guidebook. As the creative director of Creature Conserve Story Nights, a devised theater collaboration that performs socio-cultural narratives, she hopes to take this initiative on tour in various communities around the world. She serves as the social innovation designer at Creature Conserve, bridging the arts and sciences for wildlife conservation efforts. Deanne writes and illustrates editorial articles, experiments with analog animation, writes fictional short stories, illustrates sounds, paints and has a deep passion for photo documentation. She loves to travel and is looking forward to becoming a travel writer and illustrator. Her happy place is the Himalayan mountain ranges where she travels on a motorcycle with her friends. She is a lover of Goan seafood and Dal Khicidi.
