Hyeon Seo

As an artist and an art educator, I strive to build a learning environment of freedom and possibilities, knowing that there is no one right answer. By supporting student interests and encouraging them to direct their learning, I want students to realize that learning is fun. My goal is to help students feel safe in the classroom and understand that failure and experimentation are part of a meaningful learning process. I hope to cultivate my students as artists and designers who can see the world through a lens of creativity where they can discover new ways and different answers.

As a graphic designer and an artist, I am interested in exploring art and design using typography, illustration, and motion graphics. From a printed product to a digital publication, my focus is to incorporate various mediums of art to communicate a message to the audience. As a 1.5-generation immigrant, I am inspired by the experiences of immigrants in America and how I can visually represent the merging of multiple cultures. Using the language of art and design, I hope that my work would allow people to discover and celebrate their identity and culture, embracing their individuality.
