MacKenzie Sayre Josephine Wardell

I am in art education because I believe in the power of creativity. I see and feel the struggle and hardship that people, especially children, go through. I believe an art classroom is a space where students can be empowered in their ideas, experiences and cultures to believe in themselves, gain skills applicable to many fields and become self-sustaining, to move through wonderful and challenging life experiences.

To achieve these goals I focus my attention on building relationships and student confidence through student choice, bridging gaps between different disciplines and creating a culture of care, positivity and open-ness. I also want to create a safe space for students by bringing in thoughtful consistencies and structure to balance the unexpected occurrences possible in creating. With comfort and confidence, students can explore the magical aspects of creativity and the world, in art class.

As a human and creative, I also have a strong connection with the natural world. I draw and photograph the beauty I see in the natural world, to bring myself calm and inspire similar connections in others. Another major reason I am going into art education is to share nature's wonders with children, in hopes to help the earth.I am in art education because I believe in the power of creativity.
