Emilia Miekisz
Moving Studio
I move constantly. I came to RISD from Poland for my Fulbright exchange. Before that, I lived in few places around the world. In my daily life, I also don’t have one place where I work. I am always in between spaces. Occasionally I work at my studio, but you can also find me in coffee shops, going for walks to think, dancing and dogsitting.
I can’t seem to stop. I have to move, so the images I create have to move as well. This is why my favorite medium to tell a story is animation. Places, people, and things fill my inspirations. There are thousands of characters living in my head, having a big dance party. Yet when I stop and observe is when ideas come to me. It is when I take it all in, I start to play with visual metaphors and humor.
