The Masters of Industrial Design program at the Rhode Island School of Design explores design as a means to advance society. We approach design as a tool to address social, cultural, and environmental challenges, emphasizing its role as more than a profession—it's a way to connect personal values with a broader social framework to inspire positive change. Grounded in core industrial design practices and engaged in the field's evolution, our graduates are prepared to challenge the profession, lead it in new directions, and make a meaningful impact on the world. The program endorses the notion that the most valuable design opportunities today are those promoting the preservation of our environment and a better understanding of human behavior.
