RISD’s Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design (TLAD) is home to two graduate degree programs, a certificate in collegiate teaching, as well as our teen community outreach initiative Project Open Door. Recognizing that access to high-quality visual art education is a matter of equity and social justice, TLAD students work across a broad spectrum of contexts to design and deliver transformative art and design learning experiences. We aim to foster new spaces of artistic learning that respond to the needs and interests of young people, and provide opportunities for youth to engage deeply in artistic practice and inquiry connected to their own lives.
