What to do with Our City Wall?
My hometown, the city of Xi'an, has a city wall that has endured for over a thousand years, from the Sui and Tang dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties, and up to the present day. After the hardships of World War II, it was painstakingly preserved and transformed from an ancient military defense system into a city park. Although it has been rejuvenated, the level of promotion is far from sufficient, resulting in many citizens being unaware of the changes that have taken place in the city wall. Promotion plays a crucial role in the preservation of historical buildings. As an architecture student and a resident of Xi'an, I would like to contribute to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage by using architectural illustrations and other means to raise awareness about the city wall. Meanwhile, thinking about it as the future starting point of the giant old “fossil”.
