From the flexible use of biodegradable materials by the Yanomami people, to the brief introduction of the concept of biodesign, and to the organic combination of biodesign and furniture design, it is clear to see that furniture not only undertakes the functionalities as a product, but also plays an important role in constructing a harmonious environment and improving people’s mental health. How to make people fully feel the organic combination and interaction with nature? How to adapt the indigenous wisdom to the current living circumstance? How can we coexist with nature harmoniously without affecting the ecology? These are the challenges for all of us.

The initial concept was to design a modular and detachable coffee table. The table is composed of several modules, which can be freely arranged. The different heights between modules can meet the different use needs of users.  In addition, the biophilia design can help users release their stress from the psychological level, and also make the appearance of this table more lovely and vivid.

The Woven Mushroom is a single element that comes from the Mushroom Sitting System.  Different from the Mushroom Sitting System project which is built digitally, the Woven Mushroom chair is a real physical project that is made by hand. The advantage of handmaking is that it allows me to explore more material combination possibilities and be more creative during the making process.  The Woven Mushroom is a beautiful, unique, and experimental artwork.

Bio-inspired by the shape of flowers and corals, I love how simple it is: just one system that is formed by some repetitive single column geometries. I love how complex it is: each individual column has slightly differences while creating this organic system as a whole.  The material was named bio-plastic. I made it by mixing water, potato starch, gelatin, glycerin in a certain proportion. It has a similar material characteristic to industrial plastic, but bio-plastic is bio-degradable and can be easily mad
