Cherry
Yang

Cherry Yang is an artist, designer, and aspiring architect based in Providence, Rhode Island. Hailing from New Zealand as a Chinese-born immigrant, she is invested in understanding the intersectional challenges of navigating sociopolitical spaces and the power dynamics arising from systemic structures.

This final set of work at RISD in a thesis project seeks to allure the spectator to recognise the dominance of narratives told by politically produced spaces. Targeting tourists and visitors of a foreign place, the project proposal seeks to implicate the spectator as a consumer of spaces arisen from colonial histories and self-colonising actions.
