Fragments of City: A Liberated Habitat in Seoul is an urban acupuncture project. Physical detachment from social authority brings about the tension between legality and illegality in Seoul. This tension of political influence can be found at the very foundation of the city itself. Starting with the in-depth research on illegal building types in Seoul, the question on the definition of "illegal architecture" becomes a new suggestion on the alternative future of Seoul. The objectification of architecture is a gesture to transfer the colonized land of Yongsan back to the public. The result is to place less demand on the living necessities of those living between legal and illegal conditions.
