Visibility creates more possibilities, gives agency to young Latinx people, and broadens the depiction of our cultura. The act of including such elements in this work was to provide an inclusive space that I have yet to see exist elsewhere. In many cases, subconsciously or consciously, we are stripped of our Spanish tongue and Latin heritage and told it’s really important to speak English to avoid hardship. Rather than conform, let’s celebrate the aspects of our cultura that matter to us, that remind us of home, and keep us connected.

Inspired by traditional dictionary formats, this bilingual glossary covers a list of words I collected from reading in preparation for my degree project. The illustrations included are all made by Latinx illustrators, there are also biographies on each illustrator included. All of these artists practice visibility by making work inspired by their latinx heritage.

This zine includes an essay I wrote on Why I Design, language experiments, a look into photographic stereotypes, and dissecting Bachata music trends. My main core motivation is that I want other Latina women like me to know that they can create and share their authentic self.
