Industrial Design project by James Cradit

Cradit

James Cradit is a designer and artist working both physically and digitally. Below are pieces from three recent projects.

The first project features a series of jewelry objects created alongside fellow designer and collaborator Cicy Zhu. Trading the pieces, we each played a part in the making, trusting the other designer's changes and subversions.

The second are images from a project on production ceramics. Modeling physically and rendering digitally, I produced a series of vessels that were inspired by the 1964 and 1972 Olympic Stadiums. These are two of the six vessels, shown with a variety of glaze surface treatments.

The last two images are from a personal jewelry project, in which I explored gemstones and how the object can interact (or conflict) with the wearer's body.

Selfishly Made: Anti-Collaboration

Vellum, ribbon, brass, plaster, thread, cubic zirconia, copper, silver
4" x 4" x 4"

These jewelry objects were completed as part of a collaborative study project alongside Cicy Zhu. We looked at vocabulary, ownership and relationships as inspiration for a project in which we made and traded jewelry objects back and forth, trusting the other designer to make changes.

Stoneset Rings and Cuff

Gold-plated brass, brass, nugold, cubic zirconia, garnets
6" x 6" x 6"

These objects investigate how designed objects interact and contrast with the wearer's body. I also used stones as inspiration for these object's forms.
