The paintings explore the identity of the self through objects. I believe objects describe the self more intimately than traditional figurative portraiture. My work is angsty, depressing and symbolically tethered to my experience navigating epilepsy. My work serves to discuss my internal conflict battling discomfort, anxiety and toxic positivity. The series acts as visual tokens for memories I couldn't vocally express. The paintings are coded icons of memories I needed to rebrand with levity.
